Hi All,
Please be reminded that due to recent conditions, we’re switching to Google Hang Outs instead of Zoom due to technical issues.
The topic for this week is Chapter 7 of Family Law in Australia, 9th edition. In particular “discussion of developments in relation to special medical procedures”.
Also if we can finish of that topic, I suggest we also start on next weeks topic “the impact of the 2012 amendments to Pt VII of the Family Law Act”.

I have an assignment due and I’ve stumbled into writers block. Have been reading my text book for hours but things still aren’t registering.
With the assignment due in about a months time, i’m not much closer to understanding the family law system.
Here is my first paragraph.
Family law is a legal practice that focuses on child custody, relationships and divorce proceedings. The Lawyers or Attorneys that practice this can represent their clients in court proceedings and can also assist in drafting documents such as petitions and or property agreements.
Some states, in particular QLD, have the rights to determine the formal requirements for marriage as well as the requite rules and regulations for divorce and or other family law matters.
Helpful Terms to Know
Emancipation: A court process through which a minor becomes self-supporting, assumes adult responsibility for his or her welfare, and is no longer under the care of his or her parents.
Marital Property: Property acquired by either spouse during the course of a marriage that is subject to division upon divorce.
